Eye Safety in Food & Packaging

Workers in food manufacturing, food processing, beverage production and packaging facilities need prescription safety glasses that balance safety, hygiene, comfort, and clear vision in fast paced production environments. Constantly running machinery and a variety of materials are a challenge to a worker's vision safety. FAQ's For Eye Safety in Food Production & Packaging

Yes, all PSG Eyewear prescription safety glasses are Certified to current Australian Standard, AS/NZS 1337.6

Independent product certification ensures that a product meets all the requirements of the standard through a process of product testing, ongoing batch testing and biannual audits.

PSG also manufactures safety eyewear Compliant to the Standard

Compliance means that the product fully adheres to the requirements of the Standard. However, this product range is not tested by a third party. Compliance for PSG means the glasses are still made in the same Certified manufacturing laboratory using the same processes, however the item may simply fall outside of prescription ranges of certification.

Yes, PSG prescription safety glasses are specifically designed and manufactured to provide excellent eye protection. PSG offers a wide range of models including those with integrated side shields all the way to the bottom of the frame front, wrap around designs and foam backed designs that help shield from particles, dust, debris and other workplace hazards from multiple angles; front, top and sides.

Not only do PSG frames look good, but they are also, most importantly, fit for purpose.

If you are unsure which PSG frame provides the level of protection required for your workplace, our team is happy to assist you in choosing the most suitable option.

PSG Eyewear offer a wide range of prescription lens designs, all frames are available with Single Vision (single power across the lens), Bifocal (distance and near), Multifocal (distance, intermediate and near) and Occupational (varied use).

PSG also offers a range of prescription lens treatments and coatings; Polarised (sunglasses), Transitions®, anti-fog, anti-reflective and blue light protective coatings.

If you are unsure what the best choice of lens and lens treatment is for you, your working environment and prescription, the PSG team is happy to assist in recommending the most appropriate options.

PSG Eyewear will assist in recommending products that are low risk of becoming a contamination risk and in conjunction with site quality and safety teams, approve appropriate options for the plant.

As a worker, PSG recommends ensuring you clean and inspect your safety eyewear prior to start of every shift. Your safety glasses should be well maintained and clean to help minimise contamination risks in food manufacturing environments.

Always follow your workplaces hygiene, PPE and food safety and quality procedures, including requirements to clean and sanitise your PPE.

PSG Eyewear are proud to offer the groundbreaking anti-fog coating, Optifog® developed and manufactured by Essilor.

The Optifog® lens has unique, hydrophilic top layers with inherent fog repellence properties. The anti-fog top layers placed on the Optifog lens are activated with the Optifog Activator Cloth.

Just use the Optifog Activator Cloth whenever you clean your lenses.

This coating is ideal for professionals who frequently move from hot to cold environments or are required to wear masks or helmets, often experiencing foggy lenses. Optifog® lenses offer an optimised solution to the inconvenience of fog.

PSG Eyewear prescription safety glasses are designed for everyday use in demanding workplaces where regular cleaning is part of good hygiene and safety practices.

To help maximise the life of your glasses, PSG recommends using approved cleaning products only such as warm soapy water or specialised lens cleaning spray and a soft cloth (such as the cloth supplied - these need to be washed or replaced regularly).

Harsh chemicals and abrasive materials must be avoided. If in doubt, please contact PSG with the specific chemicals or sanitising equipment used in your plant and we will be able to advise if they will cause adverse reactions to the frame and lens materials.

If you work in food manufacturing, healthcare or other hygiene critical environments, PSG Eyewear can recommend frame styles within our range that are durable, easy to clean and compatible with your other required PPE.
