FAQ's For Eye Safety in Mining

Yes, all PSG Eyewear prescription safety glasses are Certified to current Australian Standard, AS/NZS 1337.6

Independent product certification ensures that a product meets all the requirements of the standard through a process of product testing, ongoing batch testing and biannual audits.

PSG also manufactures safety eyewear Compliant to the Standard

Compliance means that the product fully adheres to the requirements of the Standard. However, this product range is not tested by a third party. Compliance for PSG means the glasses are still made in the same Certified manufacturing laboratory using the same processes, however the item may simply fall outside of prescription ranges of certification.

Yes, PSG prescription safety glasses are specifically designed and manufactured to provide excellent eye protection. PSG offers a wide range of models including those with integrated side shields all the way to the bottom of the frame front, wrap around designs and foam backed designs that help shield from particles, dust, debris and other workplace hazards from multiple angles; front, top and sides.

Not only do PSG frames look good, but they are also, most importantly, fit for purpose.

If you are unsure which PSG frame provides the level of protection required for your workplace, our team is happy to assist you in choosing the most suitable option.

PSG Eyewear offer a wide range of prescription lens designs, all frames are available with Single Vision (single power across the lens), Bifocal (distance and near), Multifocal (distance, intermediate and near) and Occupational (varied use).

PSG also offers a range of prescription lens treatments and coatings; Polarised (sunglasses), Transitions®, anti-fog, anti-reflective and blue light protective coatings.

If you are unsure what the best choice of lens and lens treatment is for you, your working environment and prescription, the PSG team is happy to assist in recommending the most appropriate options.

PSG Eyewear offer a wide range of different frames and sizes that are designed to work comfortably alongside other PPE, including hard hats and hearing protection. PSG offer frame models with different temple (arm) lengths, temples replaceable with head straps, adjustable temples and adjustable nose pads.

For the best fit and protection, PSG recommend taking your regular PPE with you when selecting your new prescription safety glasses. This allows you to try everything together and you can be confident your eyewear is compatible and provides the protection you need.

PSG Eyewear are proud to offer the groundbreaking anti-fog coating, Optifog® developed and manufactured by Essilor.

The Optifog® lens has unique, hydrophilic top layers with inherent fog repellence properties. The anti-fog top layers placed on the Optifog lens are activated with the Optifog Activator Cloth.

Just use the Optifog Activator Cloth whenever you clean your lenses.

This coating is ideal for professionals who frequently move from hot to cold environments or are required to wear masks or helmets, often experiencing foggy lenses. Optifog® lenses offer an optimised solution to the inconvenience of fog.

PSG Eyewear's safety glasses are designed to withstand demanding work environments. The polycarbonate lenses are impact resistant and supplied, as standard, with a durable hard coating that provides excellent scratch resistance.

However, it is important to note that no ophthalmic (prescription) lens is completely 'scratch proof'. Any lens can become scratched if they come into contact with abrasive materials or if not cleaned and stored properly.

Proper care, cleaning and storage will help maximise the life of any lenses. For cleaning, PSG recommends use warm soapy water or specialised lens cleaning spray and a soft cloth (such as the cloth supplied - these need to be washed or replaced regularly). Best practice is to clean your lenses while wet to avoid dust and dirt scratching the lenses.

Do not use anything other than the suggested items to clean your glasses (such as shirt, rough towel or aloe vera tissues).

Commonly used substances, including sunscreens, are known to degrade some eye protector materials. Contact with such substances should be regularly cleaned off the spectacles after use.

Keep your PSG Safety glasses in the supplied case when not in use.

Prescription safety glasses should not be left unworn under direct sunlight (heat) for extended periods of time, such as in vehicles.
